The Performing Arts Research Centre brings together forms of expression, experience and expertise. It creates connections between the performing arts and other arts, knowledge and crafts, taking a broad, interdisciplinary approach. The project was conceived by Fondazione Fabbrica Europa, in collaboration with Studio ++ and Alfea Cinematografica, for the former grand-ducal stables in Florence’s Cascine park. It is a permanent centre for experimenting with innovative ideas and languages, putting contemporary creation, research and training at its heart, alongside the environment, local connections and interaction with public spaces, above all the park. Its activities include creative residencies, workshops, masterclasses, meetings, performance presentations and projects devoted to dance, music, theatre, multimedia production and the environment. Collaboration with other city cultural organisations takes this work from a local to an international scale. The Cascine Park Visitor Centre and Parc Bistrò also operate here. PARC houses the Centro di Creazione e Cultura, founded in Florence in 1994 and active since 2002 as an interactive centre with a European outlook. It combines training and artistic creation to encourage emerging artists’ mobility and professional development. It is also home to the editorial team of Edera, a monthly magazine created by a group of very young people united by their enthusiasm for journalism.
